What the blinks and flashes mean is listed in the manual for the Genius-II but it’s not really explained clearly. The first thing to understand is the difference between a blink and a flash.
Blinking: One slow blink is - on for half a second then off for 3-4 seconds. It’s a slow rhythmic cycle.
Flashing: Flashing is a very fast flicker - on and off, once per second repeating continuously. It’s a very fast repeating flash.
Blinking Green: A Green Blink (once per 3-4 seconds) indicates that all systems are operating normally.
Flashing Green: A rapid Green Flash indicates the system is charging from mains. The system will not show this flash when it is charging from solar.
Blinking Red: A Red Blink (once per 3-4 seconds) indicates that the 12v power is off. There are be two reasons the 12v power is off. The first is that the black switch or isolation switch on the Drifter is turned off. The second is that the Low Voltage Disconnect (LVD) has shut the power off to help protect from over-discharge. If the LVD has activated, you can cycle your switch off and on again to override this feature but you are best to charge up first.
Flashing Red: A rapid Red Flash indicates that one of the two battery line fuses has blown or come loose. Check out the article “No power on Genius system” for locating and checking these fuses.
Solid Red: Solid red light on the status warns against a high temperature fault. Turn the system off for 15-20 minutes (switch mains off as well as 12v Isolation) before turning the system back on again. This should be done at the power point that the Genius-Ii is plugged into and not at the green rocker switch on the bottom left.
3 Green Blink with 1 Red Flash: This usually indicates that the battery is fully charged, connected to mains and solar in inputting power as well. This takes the voltage above the 13.6v float charge of the Genius-II which triggers the red flicker while the system is checking itself.
