The SmartConnect System includes the SmartPressure, the SmartSense and the SmartTemp units.
You can have any combination of these and while there are standalone apps you can use if you don't have an Odyssey, we're going to focus on incorporating the pieces into your existing Odyssey system.
To integrate a new SmartConnect system or if you are having trouble with your SmartConnect pieces and their connectivity you can follow these steps also to reinitiate the systems.
To begin with, it's best to set these up on your phone, particularly the SmartPressure system so that you can view them while travelling.
SmartPressure Tyre Sensors:
The SmartPressure Tyre Sensors show you in real-time the pressure and temperature of your tyres. This allows for quick identification of a flat tyre in need of changing as well as underinflated tyres that just need a top-up to stop them heating up, preventing rapid wear. Installation is quick and easy and the phone app will allow this to be viewed while driving. Just make sure to have your phone securely mounted in a holder or have your co-pilot manage it for safety.
- Open the "Odyssey" app on your smart device.
- Scroll to the bottom of the main screen where it shows SmartConnect.
- Open the Smartconnect window by pressing on the arrow.
- Press the "Pair" button for the tyre you are installing.
- After pressing the "Pair" button, screw the sensor on the valve stem of the corresponding tyre.
- Tighten with the supplied wrench.
- Check the Odyssey App to make sure that the tyre has turned white
- Repeat step 4-6 for each tyre.
- Once all sensors are installed, screw the anti-theft nut anticlockwise and tighten it anticlockwise with the supplied wrench to lock the sensor in place.
SmartTemp Temperature Sensors
The SmartTemp Sensors are portable temperature sensors which can be mounted anywhere you want to keep an eye on the temperature. You can pop one in the fridge, another in the freezer, keep on on a hook outside the van when parked and one in the bedroom while the main room temp is monitored by the Odyssey's optional sensor.
- Open the "Odyssey" app on your smart device.
- Scroll to the bottom of the main screen where it shows SmartConnect.
- Open the Smartconnect window by pressing on the arrow.
- Press the "Add" button on the Oddysey App.
- Press the "On" button on the SmartTemp sensor.
- Wait for a green light to start flashing on the sensor.
- Press the "Pair" button on the Odyssey App to start scanning.
- Press the name on the left of the screen to allow you to enter a custom name for the sensor.
- Repeat steps 5 to 8 for each sensor you want to add.
- Press "Done" when finished
- Install each sensor in it's desired location. If mounting outside, make sure that you remember to bring it in before travelling.
SmartSense Gas Bottle Sensors
The SmartSense Gas Bottle Sensors attach to the bottom of your gas bottles via a magnet. This gives you an accurate real-time display of exactly how much gas you have left in your bottle. No more running out while trying to finish searing that steak off or waking up to find your absorption fridge not running.
- Open the "Odyssey" app on your smart device.
- Scroll to the bottom of the main screen where it shows SmartConnect.
- Open the Smartconnect window by pressing on the arrow.
- On the SmartSense section, Press "Add"
- Press the "Pair" button showing in the Odyssey App to start scanning.
- Press the "Sync" power button on the SmartSense sensor.
- Clean the bottom of your gas bottle, ensuring a dust/dirt free and dry surface.
- Using the magnets, stick the sensor on the bottom of the gas bottle. Make sure that the rubber sensor is as close to the centre of the bottle as possible.
- Repeat step 5-8 for each sensor to be installed.
- Wait for the liquified gas to settle before taking a reading. This can take a few minutes.
If the display is not showing correctly after a few minutes, remove and reseat the sensor. Heavily painted gas bottles, such as some of the exchange bottles, may require some of the paint to be removed from the middle. Be sure to clean this thoroughly, continuing from step 7.
