If you've experienced a fault or find the Trailsafe to not be working when tested prior to travel, you will need to check the fuse for the unit first before resetting and recalibrating the unit.
This needs to be done if you have disconnected it from the battery or if the battery voltage has dropped too low so that the unit knows what level the battery is at.
You will also want to follow these steps if you have a purple status indicator or a fault light showing.
After replacing the fuse, you will need to recalibrate the unit. To do this, follow the steps for your model of Trailsafe.
Locate the fuse for your Trailsafe.
This will be on the fuse panel in your electrical cupboard. It will be one of the 4 separate fuses. If you do not have a fuse panel near your BatteryPlus35, check at your batteries. It will be a green 30 amp blade fuse. Remove this from the holder to check it and replace if needed.
TrailSafe and TrailSafe+
If you have a rounded end with a white and orange sticker, take these steps to calibrate:
- Check you have a flashing purple light showing on the status indicator
- After the status light has stopped flashing and is solid, remove the pin. This can take up to 5 minutes.
- Wait for the status light to stop flashing again before reseating the pull pin. This should only take 1-2 minutes.
- Once the light has gone out, remove the pull pin again to test the unit.
If you have the square, all-black version of the TrailSafe, you'll need to take the following steps:
- After reinserting the fuse, check for the blue light on the status indicator.
- Wait for the status light to go out. This can take 20 minutes.
- After the status light has gone out, remove the pull pin to test the unit.
